PSA: Properly share a Google Sheet/Doc/Slide for copying

Hi. Thanks for sharing your Google Sheets scoring calculators (and other Google Docs) with us.

What you might not realize is that you’re probably doing it wrong. There’s a simple trick to make everyone’s lives slightly easier.

Change /edit to /copy. Thank me later.

You (wrong):
(1) Go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1…/edit
(2) Click File > Make a copy
(3) Name the file and pick a location

Better:
(1) Go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1…/copy
All done!

As a bonus, have you seen docs.new, sheets.new, slides.new, etc.?

That’s cool and all, but sometimes I just want to take a peek at a doc and not make my own copy. :man_shrugging:

Wait what is docs.new? Just automatically creates a new doc?

Yep, it may only work in chrome, but it’s pretty awesome
