Publish you CAD and Software before Kickoff (R303) and Spectrum CAD Collection

R303 Create new designs and software, unless they’re public.

This earlier blog post shows us that the “Evergreen” FRC rules will remain largely the same.

FIRST Blog Post on 2023 Rules

With the exception of a couple rules about robot size and extension, all of the Robot Rules in the 2022 Game Manual are marked as “evergreen”, meaning you can expect them to stay pretty much the same year to year (so you can use the 2022 manual to help understand these changes).

This means that R303 should stay largely unchanged from last season since it wasn’t mentioned in the post.

R303 *Create new designs and software, unless they’re public. ROBOT software and designs created before Kickoff are only permitted if the source files (complete information sufficient to produce the design) are available publicly prior to Kickoff.

Many teams have already made their designs and software published from last year and the off-season, but if you haven’t, this week is your last chance to do it before kickoff.

Spectrum CAD and Software Collections

In addition to posting to CD, if teams submit their links to the Spectrum CAD and Software collections, they can be easier for other teams to find.

Great reminder, Allen. I also urge folks to add their public CAD models and code repositories to The Blue Alliance as it makes them very easy to find.
