Do the pnuematic arms on the front of the robot count as part of the 36 inches.

[/size]

if the arms come out of the robot and past the 36" then it should be okay.

That seemed pretty hazy the way you described it Wes, so I’ll try to add to it…

Your robot needs to have a specific “starting position” in which no part of your robot extends beyond 30" by 36" by 60" tall. This is the orientation that you’ll set up your robot on the field just before your matches. During your matches your robot is allowed to expand. I realize you’re a newbie, great_one411, but you should read the manual, too.

When I said ‘no part of your robot extends beyond 30" by 36" by 60" tall’ I mean no part. Like… not even bolt heads, or nuts, or washers.

Bill!! Your forgot bumpers. Bumpers are allowed to be i think 3" (or maybe 4") outside of the box. However, they must be madfe of legal materials and comply with weight constraints.

Cory, I was really only concerned with the idea of “pnuematic arms” or a functional part of the robot as opposed to bumpers. But yeah, bumpers can extend beyond the 30" by 36" footprint by up to 4" on each side of the robot as long as they’re between 2" and 8" off the ground, and made out of a material you can punch with a lot of force without injuring yourself (i.e. no two by fours, no steel, no aluminum).
