QRScout: No code, no app, no internet, no problem

When you scan the QR code with a QR code scanner, it’ll enter all of the data for the match into one row of your spreadsheet. We recommend scanning all match data into one sheet, then using formulas to reference that sheet to process and visualize your data.

Love this program! One minor question, my team wants to use the built-in configs to change the color of the website. Specifically we want to change the color of the buttons. How should we interpret this data to do that/what should we change to get the desired results?

Those are HSL values

You can convert hex or RGB colors to HSL using many sites:

We are attempting to upload a custom config file, but when we click the “upload config” button it doesn’t seem to do anything. We have the config file saved as a .JSON file. Here’s the file:
QRScout_config (1).json (6.6 KB)
Any help would be appreciated as we are excited to use QRScout for the Reefscape Season!

We’ll look into it! In the meantime, can you try using edit config and pasting your JSON in the built in editor?

Let me know if it works

That does appear to work for laptops, however it is difficult to delete the default config file on a phone as you can’t select the text to delete it.

Agreed. We’ll get a fix for uploads. Glad to rule out any issues with your config.

I’m a bit confused as to the expected usage pattern here, presuming a team would like some customization.

Would the team fork the repository, make edits, and publish their customized version separately?

Or does the team start at the canonical published version, distribute a customized JSON configuration to all scouting devices, and instruct the scouters to load the website, and then load the custom configuration, prior to the first attempt to scout?

Or … something else that I’ve missed entirely?

We just download the config to each tablet and use the 2713 hosted version.

Hey there, Prosper Engineering Team Scouting Captain here, we’ve been having a small problem when we try to use the scouting tablets like the scouters would. We opened the website and bookmarked it on our scouting tablets, but when we turn off wifi and try to use the page offline the buttons are grayed out and the app is unuseable. Is there a fix to this? Thank you!

We’ve install the code for ourselves and only modified the config.json file to our needs and we’ve just copy pasted it onto our scouting tablets. No forking/publishing etc. Hope this helps!

Hmmm. Could you share a screenshot? I just disabled internet access on my phone and was unable to recreate

We found the issue and just pushed a fix. Can you confirm if it works for you now?

Yes, it does work! Thank you so much! We are looking forward to using QRScout this year with our scouting alliance!
