Our team is considering joining the wait list for the Championship event. We competed and performed well at our regional this year and thought it would be fun to attend the Championship. The problem is, we just shipped out robot home from our regional this weekend.
How soon do you find out you can register for the championship if you are on the wait list?
If we join the wait list and we find out in a few weeks that we are able to register for the Championship, how do we get our robot there?
Is this something we should have already taken care of?
Any information would be helpful. Thank you very much.
I have rarely seen teams this late into the season, make a decision to go, and actually get in.
This is assuming you dont qualify from the other categories.
The wait is usually soo long that unless you signed up early, your chances are slim to none. With the amount of teams in FIRST now, it gets harder and harder each year.
On the off chance that you get into the Championship you will need to provide proof that you have not touched your crate. 1065 was wait listed in 2007 for the Championship and barely got in and we registered when it first opened for the year.
My team is staring down the same weird situation. We are in a strange situation where my school system wants us to spend money before April 15th. If we do not spend the money, we are going to loss it back to the county’s general funds. I have an email into Team Support. I’ll let you know what I find out.
I’ve heard talk that many of the teams on the list have had to back out due to the economic down turn. Can anyone confirm this?
Don’t know about teams backing out, but I do know that when Championship registration was due for pre-registered (not qualifying) teams, they had 112 teams on the wait list.
