Question about rule <R26> --> Colours

I have a question about the rule <R26>
“No devices or decorations are permitted on the robot that are intended to jam or interfere with the operation of the vision system (i.e. changing robot color to confuse opponent’s vision system).”
I was wondering if anybody could clarify what colours would confuse the opponent’s vision system? I’m having difficulties finding this if it’s on the forums somewhere.

I have read this as saying you can have any color robot you like, so long as it stays that color. So you shouldn’t have to worry unless you have a chameleon bot or home and away jerseys for your bot.

Q: Regarding <R26>: Will there be any precautions taken–or any precautions necessary–to ensure that the cameras do not become attracted to robots or humans that are colored like field elements (eg clad in red, blue, green, yellow, silver?)
A: No.

Q: Clarifying Q. 981: Even if the intent is not to distract the robot? Since the cameras can be calibrated to sense many different colors, must some colors (& if so, which) be avoided by teams in decorating their robots and themselves?
A: No.

Q: Clarifying Q. 982: This means that teams are allowed to paint their robots the exact same color as the vision tetra, loading zone, or gold triangle to intentionally distract other team’s cameras?
A: There is no prohibition against any colors although there is rule <G26> which prohibits a robot from changing its colors to interfere with the vision system. Be aware that opposition robots may well be your partners in some matches.

Q: Our teams robot colour has always been neon green. Is this allowed?
A: Yes.

Q: <R26> states: “No devices or decorations are permitted ON the robot that are intended to jam…” Are green colored devices that are behind opaque containers IN the robot allowed to be released onto the field during gameplay?
A: This is not allowed if it is intended to jam the vision system. Also refer to G24.

It’s important to remember that even though it is legal to paint your robot same color of green as the vision tetras (or yellow, blue, or red), it may not be the best idea. Do you want to be responisible to your alliance partners if they find your robot rather then the vision tetra? Or if your opponents robot comes charging across the field and knocks you over?

The colors that the camera would be looking for are red, blue, green, and yellow. The camera will be calibrated to the correct color but if your robot is close to the same color you may confuse someones camera. The is no rule against how to paint your robot, but at the competition you cannot change the robot’s color depending on which alliance you are on or for any other reason. Making your robot a certain color to purposely to mess up someones camera is technically allowed (but does not fit under “gracious professionalism”).

You have to remember, like Joe Ross said, would you want your alliance partners confusing you with a vision tetra, goal, or loading station?

Actually, the camera can also find the color white.
