Moguls…like on a double black diamond ski run in aspen… that would make great argument for robust robots!!

How about other robots on the field as part of the game, not competing, but only providing obstruction for the playing robots?

That’d be neat, it’d be like one of those games where you have to time your movements because the field is a puzzle as well and you can only accomplish certain tasks when things are in proper alignment…

I’m guessing a bottomless pit would be too much to ask? =)

(Maybe if i get the time, I’ll write a serious reply to this…I did love the ramp last year though)

I just like goals that move. 1996, 97 and 99 all had goals that moved one way or another. I liked the strategy twists that are introduced when 1 team can potentially move the goal away from another.

I will have to agree with that one. The games were especially exciting when teams were fighting for the puck back at 1999. But if the goal is the size of 2000’s goal, or even just the ramp, it seems to me it will be too big to push around…
How about a movable puck with ramps on the side, or maybe the bottom half of a cone, with some sort of smaller goal in the center of it? seems like a good compromise between 1999 and 2000.
Just like Nate, I will actually need some time to think of a serious answer… I WILL be back.

Kinda reminds me of those foam pits I used to jump into at gymnastics class
But wouldn’t that be a tad hard for teams to build?

PS - I think its a great idea, though!

weird… that mean strategies won’t be just Ground vs. Ground, but also Air vs. Air and Ground vs. Air (SAM~!!!)
Maybe not flying robots, but a field with two level, like a ground level and a ‘roof’ form by rails where robots can get on from ramps and move around on it. And if the bottom robot can lift up their alliance from under, they score points, and/or the other way where the robot on the rails lift up the bottom robot away from the ground to score points (too hard?).
As for balls, there will be a goal on the second level, so the robots can score by picking up balls on the ground, go up the ramp and score OR the bottom robot transport ball up the to second robot on the upper level and score points.
Lots of team work in this kinda game.

Just think if FIRST made flying or rather ‘hovering’ a spec in the game.
Certain teams would have the upper hand, yes, (Boeing, NASA, Leer, etc.) but what about all those car companies and car component companies that sponsor teams? (Delphi, GM, Ford, DiamlerChrysler, etc.) maybe if that happened, FIRST would change the technological course of everything and while teams with auto sponsors were building their robots they were really becoming stepping stones to the hovering cars often depicted in futuristic movies!!
hey, it could happen. i wouldn’t mind a flying svt cobra, would you?
just a thought.

Even worse, what happens at the kickoff, when they get volunteers to act as robots?
