Hi all, time again for another question of the week…

Question 9/10/00: Do you think the current qualification point system is a good system? Was last years or another years better? How about ideas for a new QP system?

The point system is not important as long as certain conditions are met:

  1. Must be easy for team to score matches in progress.

  2. Must be VERY easy for the people (non-team members ) in the stand to understand and follow.

  3. Must be super easy for the Media to follow.

last but not least…

  1. It should allow for a variety of scoring solutitions being fair to all teams.

Personally, I think the qualification points system last year was very bad. That said, I think the best way to go about it for FIRST (given that they like the whole cooperation bit), is to take the sum of the winners and losers score and then triple that for the winner. You may just want to give the loser the sum of the scores. It will lead to higher QP amounts, but since it’s all relative I don’t think it matters too much. Just a thought.

Hi everybody!
Our team is only in its 3rd year, but has FIRST ever created a point system where the lowest score wins? That might be interesting.
Great seeing you all @ RiverRage & the Rambots chat!
