Questions about auto period

Hey guys, I am excited for the competition! I have a few quick questions about the auto period.

  1. Are the notes on the ground for auto, meaning that we can’t use source?
  2. If the notes are on the ground, are they in fixed positions?
  3. During auto period, is there completely no interaction with the robot? So if one team decides to plan a path towards a note and the alliance team does the same, then they would crash into each other, no?
  1. Yes, they are on the ground during auto and you can’t use the source
  2. Yes, they are on the ground, in the fixed positions shown in the CAD
  3. Yes, there is absolutely no interaction with the robot. However, there is a new auto emergency stop button that can stop your robot if it’s about to crash or break.

Wait so would you have to plan with your alliances to determine who is going to get which note during auto?

Yes, normally alliances would discuss which robot is running what auto before the match starts.
I’m assuming it’s going to be a sort of guessing game for what happens in the middle with the other alliance.

You can’t use the SOURCE because your HUMAN PLAYER is prohibited from crossing the line in AUTO, just like all other TEAM MEMBERS.

I can’t find an answer, will there be the 3 sec window between auto and teleop this year (like 2023), or will the robot immediately go to teleop (I think all the years back to 2017).

What Gary said, but as long as you (somehow) don’t touch any robots or rings while beyond the center line, there’s no rule against driving there. I wouldn’t reccomend doing that though

If you did make it to the zone, it’d be offsetting penalties thereafter, but pushing an opponent to get there would be G211, extra foul and no tech foul offset

There is a 3-second delay between AUTO and TELEOP for scoring purposes as described in Section 6.5 Scoring.

Cool, thanks! I was looking at 5.9, the FMS sounds section.

That 3 sec time was nice too, to give the drivers time to smoothly grab controllers. I kinda hope they keep it as an evergreen rule honestly.

the 3 sec delay isn’t a rule, evergreen or otherwise, but it appears to be about as evergreen as it gets
