As a part of team 3692 we have just attached our bumper and am having problems with the floor clearance. Our bumper is at the max height of 7.5 inches above the floor and our note doesn’t fit under the bumper. We are hoping to get information about the +/- .5 inches part of the rule and if we could cut .5 inches off of the 5 inch thick bumper to give enough room to fit the note.
Can you provide pictures? Seems a bit strange, given that you should have 2.5 inches of clearance as described, and the note is 2 inches thick.
If your bumper is drooping at all, you can tape the pool noodles to the wood backing to mitigate that.

Yes the rules say 5” +/- .5” so technically you can get by with 4.5” bumper wood. We cut ours down to 4 5/8” to save us 3/8”.
