How visible do you all make the radios diagnostic lights? R708 only defines visible, but from no specific direction or how hard it would be to see the lights.
I have seen some robots where I have no clue where the radio would be if I wasn’t looking for it. We also have had the radio behind plastic and its been fine. I just want some clarification of positioning while mockup up electrical paths.
On a seperate note, how buried have people made their RSL and still pass, I have seen 254 get away with almost zero.
As far as the radio some attempt at visibility is usually all that seems to be done to meet the assignment.
The RSLs really are only for the audience and game announcer now days, the FTA has all that info on their tablet. Obviously still required be rules, but I would just mount it where it fits and is somewhat visible.
Ehhhh… Nah it’s for people standing near the robot in the pit, in the lab, in general. You have no other indicator as a random person if the robot is enabled or not without it. There’s a big difference between the robots on and safe to be next to and you better social distance from it because it’s about to move.
Without the RSL you better hope you can see the mini lights on the RoboRio or everyone can clearly see the status of the drive station.
Agree during matches this isnt what it’s used for because no one should be on the field. But outside of that it’s absolutely helpful to have.
