Radio Power

Are you allowed to power the radio in multiple (allowed) ways? Such as both barrel connector and POE. Could you do barrel connect and POE on both of the ports?
We have had problems with the radio disconnecting from the power and wonder if this could solve it.

You can use VRM power to both the barrel jack and the POE. With the RPM, you must only use POE power.

Only one port supports POE, the one labeled 18v-24v

I think only 1 radio port supports POE, so this won’t give you any advantage.

As far as losing power on the radio - you should find the root of the problem rather than try to apply triple redundancy. Good tight wiring connections are going to take you far.

If you aren’t confident 100% confident in your ability to make good connections, I would leave the barrel jack unplugged while you practice and make sure your radio never looses power. Then add the redundancy at competition only.

Use the Rev RPM. For us, it’s proven the most reliable way to feed power to the radio. We’ve never lost power or comms with it, even with heavy use and all the high impact defense in 2022 (and after 87 matches between regular season, DCMP, Worlds, and two off-season events, not to mention innumerable practice and demo hours.)
