Ramadan within the 2023 FIRST Season

Hello FIRST Community,

I would just like to bring your attention to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan which starts on March 22nd. This CD post that I have attached from last year, gives a nice brief description of what to expect from the Muslim FIRST Members.

I bring this up because, as Ramadan is fast approaching, Competition season is still going. Ramadan isn’t expected to end until April 21st and Eid al-Fitr is on the 22nd, which is during Worlds. With Eid al-Fitr, Muslims will have to gather in a Mosque and do a prayer early morning, which could interfere with matches, volunteer roles, team meetings, etc. The nearest Mosque to GRB is the Islamic Da’wah Center which is a 20ish min walk but another thing to mention, almost all Mosques will be filled to the brim during the Eid al-Fitr prayer.

It would be nice if FIRST could do something and support Muslims that are part of the FIRST community and advocate and have prayer rooms at events for Muslims to be able to pray instead of running around and finding a place to pray or completely missing their prayer.

FIRST has a long history of working behind the scenes, and sometimes in front of them, to find ways of adjusting to accommodate faith-based conflicts with event schedules. There are many faiths to respect.

I just bring this up since competition season is still going, what accomodations will there be at upcoming events?
