Our elimination policy actually pre-dates FIRST’s policy.
We have been doing 4 robot elimination rounds for about 5 years now and will continue this practice.
I highly recommend 4 robot elims for any event.
There are a few reasons that we started doing this.
1- Since we are trying to inspire everyones rookies. There is nothing more inspirational than having your team in the playoffs.
2- More invested teams = more play-off excitement and more screaming spectators.
3- Under the old system, teams that were not selected, packed up and left.
This usually meant that teams with breakdowns could not find a back-up robot very easily. Searching for the next available back-up robot was slowing down match play.
4 robot elimination alliances is a classic Win-Win situation. The only minor cost is Two extra trophies. This is a very small price to pay for all those extra smiles.
We are very sorry that Team 75 can’t compete this year.
As for the team list, we have had a few changes and will update everyone shortly. We are currently reaching out to teams on our waiting list.
We should have a final list published by Wednesday.
Good luck to Team 75 in the 2015 Season and we look forward to seeing everyone at Ramp Riot 2014.
Attached is the 2014 Ramp Riot Information Packet.
Please feel free to distribute this information packet to anyone that is interested in the event. Beyond this packet we will also have some special announcements about visitors and activities.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Ramp Riot 2014.
Please Remember to bring canned goods for the needy to Ramp Riot.
We ask that you consider this worthy cause to honor the memory of Mike Wade.
Mike was a NASA Goddard employee that passed away in 2007.
Mike gave so much to FIRST and to the East Coast off-season events.
The details are below.
Canned Food Drive
The team that delivers the most canned goods will win the 8th Annual “Mike Wade Memorial Award” (eagle trophy).
These cans are donated to the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard to prepare Thanksgiving Dinners for needy families.
We welcome cans from both teams and individuals.
Thank you for giving this valuable gift to families in need!
1- Help a Rookie MAR Team at Ramp Riot
A new team will be forming at North Penn HS and North Montco Technical Career Center.
They will be sending their students and mentors to Ramp Riot to observe.
We are looking for teams that would be willing to have a few students shadow with your team for the day.
If you can help us to inspire a few rookies, please contact Dr. Paul Gehman directly at [email protected]
Lets give NPHS and NMTCC a big MAR welcome at Ramp Riot!
2- Judges Needed for Ramp Riot
We are awarding several Judged Awards at Ramp Riot 2014. We currently have (4) independent judges that have volunteered so far.
We are looking for 2 to 4 more judges to help the current crew and spread out the task to make the day enjoyable for all.
If you can help with Judging a few awards, please let us know ASAP. Please PM me directly. Please feel free to forward this request to anyone you think would make a great judge.
3- A reminder about Food Can Donations
The team that delivers the most canned goods will win the 8th Annual** “Mike Wade Memorial Award”** (Eagle Trophy).
These cans are donated to the Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard to prepare Thanksgiving Dinners for needy families.
We welcome cans from both teams and individuals.
Yes! Any time after 5 PM is good for load in. We just ask that you bring a smaller crew because we are still putting the final touches on the pit areas and the stadium.
We fried our digital sidecard tonight during drive practice after a pwm cable came unplugged. We have one on order and are pretty sure we are not going to get it on time for Saturday.
We wanted to see if a team going might be able to lend us one for the event on Saturday?
