Random Question about G11- Are vacuums considered active mechanisms?

G11. No throwing CARGO on defense. A ROBOT with its BUMPERS breaking the plane defined by or completely beyond the opponent’s CARGO SHIP LINE may not shoot CARGO into the air, kick it across the floor using an active MECHANISM, or eject it across the floor in a forceful way (i.e. CARGO is propelled a significant distance).

Ignoring the practicality, I had an idea. Could you drive to the opponent’s side and steal cargo from the depot using a crazy powerful vacuum inside the bumpers? Without ever touching the balls, would it be in the rules to coerce the balls to trail you with a vacuum? Is a vacuum an active mechanism without ever touching the cargo?

G4. One GAME PIECE at a time. ROBOTS may not have extended or repeated control, i.e. exercise extended or repeated influence, of more than one GAME PIECE at a time, either directly or transitively through other objects.

This could also break G4. I think the use of “influence” in this rule is broad and means that this controlled movement of the Cargo wouldn’t be legal.

Anyways, I am interested in hearing your opinions on the legality (and the feasibility or lack thereof if you’re interested). Bonus points if you actually prototype it.

As a member the most recent team with vacuum experience I cant imagine this working the way you explained it.

Are you suggesting you have a opening in your bumpers at that right at the frame perimeter edge you have a vacuum to attach the cargo ball once you came in contact with it? Then you pull it back to your side to score it?

I sort of figured, but no idea is a bad idea when brainstorming

I wasn’t being particularly serious but I was thinking of just making the cargo roll behind you without ever touching it with a mechanism.
