When watching rankings (both qualification and district), I’ve noticed that sometimes our rank has gone up between matches or even when we aren’t competing. Can anyone explain how this happens?
The teams around you had their ranking average go down.
ie if you were 4th and the 3rd ranked team got a 0 rp match (or anything less than their current average) their average would go down and you could go up in rank.
the rankings take into account how many matches you have played. IE: someone who played 4 matches and has 5 RP will rank higher than someone who played 5 matches and has 6 RP.
Going up in total district points when not at a competition is harder to explain, unless the interface you’re looking at is also ranking by average/doubling while awaiting second events. (FIRST and TBA don’t do this.) There have been few instances of points corrections in some districts, though. Might be that? Do you have any specific info on when that’s happened?
The district points still update as the event goes (esp if you look on TBA/FRCLocks), so if a team just above you has a string of bad quals and drops in rank, you can move up a spot or two as they lose district points from that.
The district points didn’t increase, just the rank (and no it wasn’t because of ties). This was yesterday going from 33 to 31 even though we aren’t competing this week
I’m thinking thr team above you was playing dropped in rank, pushing their distinct points down moving you above then on frc locks
Ok yeah, if your district points aren’t changing, what @MikLast said, active teams’ points are adjusting as the R in this equation is changing:
If your points themselves are changing while you’re not competing, that pretty much has to be an administrative adjustment.
