Raspberry pi 4

I’m new to robotics and I’m still learning. I would like to know if it’s possible to use a raspberry pi 4 [ I have one in hand ] for programing in blocks the hd hex motors and connect it to an android phone instead of the rev control hub.

You won’t be able to do anything legal for a FIRST competition, but, yes that can technically be done, although you’d need additional circuitry. In particular, you’ll have to figure out how to provide power to the motor – the raspberry pi doesn’t produce enough current to drive a motor. You’ll also have to figure out how to interface with the encoder – that’s not something the PI is very good at.

If you’re interested in this sort of thing, go over to youtube and lookup “Dronebot workshop.” That guy definitely has videos that will point you in the right direction.

I’m not going to use the Pi for any competition, I just want to get used and learn how to code in blocks like the rev control hub software. As at the moment the control hub kit is out of stock to buy it . I will take a look to Dronebot workshop and see what i can get .Thanks
