It sounds like you’re experiencing issues with your Raspberry Pi setup, particularly in getting it to work with the snake eyes/PhotonVision image and connecting it to a RoboRIO. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check Power Supply: Ensure that your Raspberry Pi is getting adequate power. Insufficient power can cause various issues, including the inability to boot properly.
  2. Verify Connections: Double-check all your connections. Ensure that the Raspberry Pi is correctly connected to the RoboRIO and that all cables are secure and undamaged.
  3. Inspect the SD Card: Verify that the SD card is properly inserted and that it’s not corrupted. You might want to try re-flashing the snake eyes/PhotonVision image onto the SD card. Sometimes, re-flashing can resolve issues that occur due to a bad write or a corrupted file.
  4. LED Indicators: The fact that only the lights near the Ethernet and power ports are on might indicate that the Pi is not booting up correctly. Usually, other LEDs (like the green LED) should blink or show activity if the Pi is booting up properly.
  5. Network Configuration: Since you mentioned that you can’t ping the Raspberry Pi, there might be a network configuration issue. Ensure that your Raspberry Pi is connected to the same network as your computer and check if the IP address is correctly configured.
  6. Try a Different Image: If the specific snake eyes/PhotonVision image is not working, you could try flashing a standard Raspberry Pi OS image to see if the Pi boots up normally. This can help you determine if the issue is with the hardware or the specific image you’re using.
  7. Look for Error Messages: If you have a monitor that you can connect to the Raspberry Pi, it would be helpful to see if there are any error messages displayed during boot up.
  8. Check for Overheating: Ensure that your Raspberry Pi is not overheating. Overheating can cause the system to shut down or malfunction.
  9. Consult Documentation: Refer to the official documentation for PhotonVision and snake eyes, as there might be specific setup instructions or known issues that you can address.
