as a rookie team we are trying to build our own half field to practice. For the base of it, if you can recommend us alternatives of carpet besides Neyland it would be great.

Where are you located out of? First thing that came to mine is that sometimes teams have old/worn out carpet that is good enough to practice on. I would assume a lot of teams would be willing to give some to you for free. It is probably the cheapest way to do it. And with all the vision usage you are probably not going to use dead reckoning for auto, so the diffidence in grip might not be a huge problem for that.
