Red and yellow signal

We have encountered a problem with our Black Jaguars. For a few days all we got was a yellow LED flashing, but today it changed. Now we have a yellow and red flashing status light (depending on the angle and direction you look at it, looks like 2 LEDs are turned on at the same time). Consulting the manual for the Jags, it is a “configuration failure”, but we haven’t been able to fix it through resetting (it flashes red and green for a few seconds while pushing the button, then it goes back to red and yellow.

This is a mystery to us, hope someone knows why this happens.

From the manual:

To calibrate the servo-style PWM input for a specific range, connect a PWM source, then:

  1. Hold down the USER switch with a straightened paperclip for 5 seconds.
  2. The LED flashes Red and Green to indicate Calibration mode.
  3. Instruct the controller to send a full-forward signal for one or more seconds.
  4. Instruct the controller to send a full-reverse signal for one or more seconds.
  5. The LED flashes Green and Yellow quickly to indicate a successful calibration.
The MDL-BDC24 samples these signals and centers the speed range and neutral position
between these limits. A calibration failure signals if an out-of-range signal is detected. This
condition is indicated by flashing the LED Red and Yellow.

I don’t recall the calibration reset procedure (I believe the PWM has to be disconnected for it to work), but I would suggest using this procedure to recalibrate them.

Note that steps 3 and 4 are logically equivalent to throwing the joystick to full forward and full backward (provided your PWM connection and relevant programming is done correctly).

The LEDs in the Jag are actually two LEDs, one red and one green, in the same package. To create yellow, both are turned on at the same time, that’s why it looks like there are two LEDs.

Hmm, that’s strange, as I could’ve sworn it was a “pure yellow” flashing light until today… I must’ve been wrong.

I have already tried the calibration (resetting=calibrating while starting up the jag) without success, but if it actually is just the yellow light, I guess we still have the same problem we did before.

Did you try calibrating it, as opposed to resetting the calibration?

Yes, but all that happened was a few seconds of red and green flashing lights before it returned to the original signaling.
