Red/Blue Diagnostic LED

Did anyone else get the Red/Blue LED in their KoP? We did not receive one and it is not listed in the kit checkoff list but apparently we are required to use one again this year.

<R16> ROBOTS must use the diagnostic signal LED provided in the Kit Of Parts. Field personnel will use the LED during the matches for diagnostic purposes. It must be mounted on the ROBOT such that it is easily visible while standing three feet in front of the ROBOT in its’ STARTING CONFIGURATION. Instructions for connecting the LED are provided on the FIRST website at www.usfirst.org/frc/2007/manual The Robot Controller directly powers and controls the LED. The user has no control over the LED and no programming is required.

Are we supposed to buy one from IFI or pick one up at our first regional like year before last?

There is an orange-ish diagnostic LED in the kit in adition to a relay and a relay base. I believe that this is the LED being referred to.

Thanks! I was worried we were missing the old square LED. We have the orangeish LED but then where are these instructions on the FIRST website that they speak of in rule R16?

A lot of documents still aren’t posted onto the FIRST website. We just need to be patient and give them some time to iron things out.

Also I believe during one season we didn’t get the lights until our first competition (Was that last year or am I crazy?) so that could also be the case.

Last years rules stated that the LED was optional, then competitions made up their own requirements (most saying you had to have it). Therefore, FIRST revised the decision for Nationals.
