Probably so CORAL doesn’t get counted twice by mistake.
Could be, if you don’t mind missing scores until the end of the match because of overload.

I think scorers are going to have to keep track of the amount of coral in L1 and the exact position of coral on L2-L4. Luckily, since only one coral can be placed, this can be handled by a checkbox. Their scoresheets should be submitted at the end of AUTO and TELEOP, so that FMS can handle whether to award AUTO or TELEOP points for each coral.
With Rule 6.5.1, it reads like the position of the coral needs to be recorded. And it just sounds like a huge pain- given that there’s 36 different places to score coral which will have to be recorded and the trough for 37 different input fields.
If there are 4 scorekeepers, each only has to keep track of 19 locations.
Algae in the Net is the other one.
Also, PLEASE call the people doing the scoring by the right job title, folks.
Scorekeeper: sits behind all the screens at the scoring table. Starts the match, posts the scores, runs FMS, does HQ communication, adjusts things that need to be adjusted, prints lots of paper, and generally makes the event run.
Official Scorer: stands at ref tablet next to ref. Enters positions of all scored items. Is checked by nearest referee. The reason real-time scores are accurate.
I was an Official Scorer during Charged Up, and we had checkboxes for the positions of cones and cubes during the early weeks. Does anyone know how they changed the inputs when the later weeks and champs started allowing multiple items in those slots?
I am just not sure how crowded the screen is going to be with all the branches of the Reef and an integer input for the L1 Reef and another for the Barge Net.
In CHARGED UP, you couldn’t “SUPERCHARGE” until the GRID was completely filled up, so the tablet was not much more crowded after that change.
A VC told me that he is instructed to target 5 scorers per event, so my assumption is 4 scorers.
Can confirm. Events are using four scorers at once, and are asked to ideally source five so they can be on rotation with breaks.

If I remember right, once the grid was full it enabled a separate place to enter the number of supercharged cells – just the total number, not the locations.
I expect that the scorers this year will each track the branches centered on a triangle – that’s easier than the branches between two triangles. I hope we aren’t sharing tablets with the referees, it’s going to get very intense in later matches!
In past years, this has always been the case. There are 6 panels shipped by default, which is not enough for 5 refs + 4 scorers unless they share.
Removed post because I didn’t understand where the Official Scorer was going to stand. Oops.
I just actually understood what you are talking about with the triangles. If the scorer stands where each triangle points (nor really points I guess, but you know what I mean I hope), the one between I & J will be right opposite the human player in the processor area. On the scoring table side, the head referee will have absolutely no room to move or see the field.
Head Ref already has a human player to their left as it is. I find it unlikely that there will be a scorer on that tablet as well literally boxing in the HR.
If I’m wrong (and I may be) it’s going to be a rough game for head refs…
In no past game with an Official Scorer has the HR had one at their tablet. That tablet is usually set up differently from the standard ref tablets, too.
