Our team recently missed a regional after our flight was canceled because of a major snow storm. We tried everything to get our team down there but we were unable to get a flight in time. Have teams in the past that missed competitions due to weather related issues been able to get a refund for the entry fee or were they given a credit towards a future event?
If you haven’t already talked to the regional director and called/emailed FIRST, have your mentors do this immediately.
Situations like this will be dealt with as unique cases. What has or has not happened before shouldn’t be taken as guidance for what to expect.
The thing to worry about right now is to make sure FIRST HQ knows everything there is to know about the event, and to have a good idea about what your own team thinks would be a fair outcome.
