Hey all,

I’ve compiled a small map of travel for teams to events based on the 2018 Registration Data provided by TBA (Thanks Eugene!)

Green = Event (destination), Red = Team (source)

That’s really cool! Nicely done!

Any idea why my team in far Southwest Virginia wouldn’t be on the map?

Teams on this map appear given 3 circumstances:

  1. They are on this list (from TBA)
  2. They are on the TBA Website (http://thebluealliance.com)
  3. The team’s (or event’s) location is not null (from the TBA API)

Note that the location on the map is the location given by TBA’s API, in latitude and longitude. It may not be awfully accurate depending on how your team is listed on the API.

Plus, geocoding can be super flaky to begin with. TBA uses the Google Maps APIs under the hood, and they’re surprisingly nondeterministic, especially with non-US addresses.
