Now that regrants have been open for two weeks now, I’m curious if anyone has received a regrant for this year. I submitted almost as soon as the form opened and am request #1116 which hopefully means I’m 6th and not 16th or 116th in line? If anyone could shed some light on the process and if there’s anything to do but wait, that’d be great as currently our entire budget is in HQ’s hands.
No idea, but I submitted last night and we were # 1149.
This particular department has really screwed us over in the past. Last year, I submitted it on Dec. 18 and we didn’t get a check until March.
You might be able to get an update if you send something to them via the “Messages” tab on Submitable.

Yikes, this is not the news I wanted to hear but probably needed to hear. Looks like we’ll be depending on the goodwill of parents and promising reimbursement.
Calling the FiRST finance office is likely your best option to get the most up-to-date information.

I called the finance department around 2 days ago, and they redirected me to the regrants email as the regrant process is a separate process from most of finance. Still haven’t received a response from that account yet.

Did you get some sort of response via email? I submitted a regrant request, and it’s been radio silence since. I was hoping to get some confirmation that my request is at least being processed, etc.
I used the “messages” button in submittable. They did respond back to each question I had within one business day. Looking back at the message trail, there was a hangup with funding from one of our sponsors that caused the first month or two of delay, and then the last month of delay seemed to just be their unwillingness to expedite anything.
Between this and the destruction of the FTC/FLL regrants, I wish we could just direct-to-team payments from the sponsors that use FIRST and bypass the grants department entirely.

I submitted the first day the regrants were open and just got notice today that they processed my submission. So hopefully, we’ll be getting our check in the mail in the next few weeks…

From my experience, there’s a progress indicator that changes from recieved to in progress when they’re in progress (who could have seen that one coming). Idk what # you are, but we were #1116 and we received the email today so hopefully yours comes as quick.

I was very disappointed in my online chat with FIRST today.
We received a DoD grant to cover Champs since we are pre-qualified in the amount of $5750.
When I asked about retracting our PO we did for it prior to register for Champs, they said they couldnt do it.
We did NOT pay FIRST yet, in the hopes of getting sponsorship from DoD, BAE, etc. But instead, they will not use the funds given on behalf of our team.
I am waiting to hear back from other folks from FIRST about this issue. I can understand if Champs was paid for already, but we didnt pay yet. The DoD funding is restricted and cant be regranted.

All I have been been able to figure out is that this particular department at HQ has forgotten whom they serve. Or they know, and it’s definitely not the teams/kids.
It definitely feels that way.
Fortunately, last night I received an email from DoD STEM after sharing my concern. They plan to make it unrestricted now so that I can regrant it.
They were very concerned and understanding of our situation.

It ended up taking ours a month from the time we requested it until the time it hit our account.
it took us around 2 weeks as well, from 1/11 to 1/30 which kinda took a ton of time from us. thankfully mentors spotted us money as soon as regrant was confirmed.
