Remembering Isaac Harrington, Alumni and Coach of FRC125 - The NUTRONs

Hey ChiefDelphi and the rest of the FRC Community -

I am extremely saddened to share that Isaac Harrington, a beloved NUTRONs alumni and Coach passed away after a courageous battle with Leukemia on December 21st 2023.

Isaac was the model NUTRON in every single way. He was one of the most dedicated students to come through our program and was fearless in his pursuit of gaining knowledge around robotics and computer science. Isaac was the lead programmer and operator of our 2022 robot “Freefall”. His dedication to the robot and team helped to lead our 2022 season into one of the best we ever had. 125 was fortunate to receive an Innovation in Control award at the Championship in 2022 and that was 100% due to Isaac’s passion and leadership in controls.

Isaac’s passion for programming and computer science was immense however, he was equally passionate about mentorship and coaching. Despite a fierce battle with Leukemia he found himself in multiple robotics shops mentoring NUTRONs FTC and FRC students. He was one of the most humble individuals you’ll ever meet despite his incredible physical fitness, intelligence and ability to work hard. I’m sure many of you that interacted with Isaac over the years understand what a joy of a human he was to be around. To this day we still get a chuckle out of Isaac’s Behind the Bumpers appearance during the Week 0 scrimmage with our 2022 robot…

Isaac’s discipline and ability to commit to goals was unlike anyone else I’ve encountered in my years leading the NUTRONs. Isaac put everything he had into realizing his objectives, and there is not a better model NUTRON as both a student and coach that we’ve ever had. Our team and community has an unfillable hole without him around. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Isaac’s family at this time. The NUTRONs are dedicating our 2024 FRC season to Isaac, and the rest of our lives trying to live up to the standard he created for us.

We love you Isaac.

In lieu of donations, Isaac’s family has created a scholarship fund in his name. More information about this can be obtained below:

So sad to hear such awful news, my heart goes out to the Harrington’s and 125. Please let me know if you are doing any fundraisers (memorial buttons, black wristbands, ect) as I’d love for the rest of NE to embrace his passion and give support to 125 and his family. Would also be nice if we could do a moment of applause or silence at NE events this year for him> :black_heart:

So sorry for your loss. I remember seeing Issac at various competitions over the years and he always seemed joyful. I’m sure that his impact on your team will be long lasting.
