I was wondering if it was at all possible to remove this encoder: encoder from a shaft without damaging/ruining it?
If you grab just the aluminum and avoid touching the plastic disc it is doable. Just be very careful and take your time. We’ve done it successfully more and more lately, but we’ve also made some encoders not function anymore. It seems easier mow that the encoder disc is plastic.
Okay, thank you! We didn’t want to risk $42 before we knew it was possible.
A small pair of needlenose pliers between the gearbox and that aluminum collar can often pry it out. Good luck!
