Team 5550 is in. We start working on our fall projects next week, which include potential upgrades to our robot, GloWorm testing, and learning Java better (lead programmer moved out of district).

I agree. While word and phrase meanings change over time, there are over 900 reasons to not use this one in this context.
I would like to participate, somehow, with FIRST and with FRC. Our team is starting to organize for the fall season. It will be interesting.

I see that now. I’m used to the phrase in less potentially harmful situations (like believing your fav sports team will win the championship).
I dont see an option to edit a title, but would be happy if an admin wants to change it to something less offensive.

We had our first virtual team meeting since March last night. We don’t know for sure how much money we have, or what students we have still, or what they all want to do. But I’m doing what I can to see that we either do FRC or FTC this season. Too many unknowns still…but we’ll try to be in, if we can.

Oh, 1551 is in. I love game design–and have even been paid for it–so that’s pretty cool for me. This fall we’re going to do some inter-team cardboad battlebots, social distancing-style as training.

832 is in. We held lots of online learning over the summer, as well as during the “break”. It’d be a shame to waste it, and with the competition robot not even having been finished, we still have plenty to do.

2839 is all in. Nobody wants to sit this one out. It looks like corporations love us this year too!!! We are blessed to be a school in a bold low covid district. Started hybrid in September. Well managed foundations are a real asset when coupled with state support and good leadership. Arduino zooming right now. Learning from Epic failures every week followed by phenomenal successes. Discord server is buzzin with supportive ideas.

5826…mmmmmaybe. We have confirmed our district funding and have reasonable prospects from long term sponsors. A couple of them are doing very well indeed in the current weird economy. As some of our funding is “use it or lose it” we will have to weigh the merits of supporting FIRST with 2K…or supporting Andymark etc with that money.
Probably we’ll run right down to the deadline on this decision hoping for clarity on the possibility and format of small scale comps for early 2021.
