I have been off CD for a while. I had to take the summer off, but I am back and ready for our new season (I know it is not really until January :).
While our team is still looking for some mentors, we do have a new lead mentor and an alum who is eager to help us out. I am thankful for both of them and want to be able to help support them as much as possible.
I remember a while back seeing some links to this incredible resource about how to run a successful team. I think it covered everything from general organization and fundraising to how to break down a game and build a competitive robot. Of course, I could be conflating a few different resources in my mind.
I cannot for the life me remember where the site was located. Does anyone remember anything like this?
If not, does anyone have any advice for training new mentors, and especially training a lead mentor who is new to robotics?
I am looking at this as an opportunity to take a look at some of the ways I ran things the past few years and see how we can improve upon them.
Thank you all for the support this community has given our team over the years. We have come a long way, and a lot of it is thanks to CD.
I think you might be thinking about the blog post, the second topic of which was a set of recommended resources, including (if I’m remembering correctly) an updated document on how to successfully run a team.
Thank you. That is incredibly helpful, but not exactly what I was remembering. I think what I was remembering was not directly from HQ. It was similar to the spectrum guides, but less about the nuts and bolts of building a robot, and more about running a team. I am still going to peruse and share these resources. They are excellent.
Thank you! Yes, it was the Compass Alliance I was thinking of. The other resources are excellent as well. BOB are not far from us, and we have learned a lot from them. Many of the other teams have been on our radar as well, but not all. Thank you both for your help.
