Restarting a team

Hey guys, I’m on a out of district team because my districts team went defunct in 2013. I was wondering how difficult it would be to restart the team and what steps I’d need to take to do it. Any and all suggestions welcome.

I believe at the very least you would need coach permission and or the log in info of the previous head coach in order to start the registration process for the team again through the FIRST dashboard. From there I believe all you would need to do is pay for registration I dont think the FIRST dashboard cares where the team is located they just care about if its paid up or not.

The only thing i would really be concerned about, granted you get the log in or coach privallages, would be if the school still owns the branding or something although i figure a conversation with the school could get that squared away. Either by removing all references to said school or changing the team name.

Is there something that makes you want to pull that specific team back? If you’re starting with mostly new mentors and students learning about FIRST, restarting the old team instead of forming a rookie teams seems like it’d be a disadvantage in most aspects.

I’m not sure exactly what you are asking. Do you want to restart the old team as part of your school/district? If that is the case then you need to talk to your school and see if they are interested. For help talking to the school contact your local FIRST Senior Mentor or Regional Director. They can help you with the discussion and if the school says yes contact FIRST to get the team number resurrected and the new person listed as the main contact.
