We will be driving up all night – arriving in Richmond at about 8:00 AM. Can you recommend a good place for a bus full of students to eat breakfast? I was looking for a Cracker Barrell or something on 95 coming into town but couldn’t find any. Any suggestions?

MMMM, Krispy Kream Doughnuts. That’s the way to go!! We usually end up at McDonalds. Whatever we find on the way.

Do not! I repeat DO NOT stop at Steak and Shake. Last year we traveled to Grand Rapids (Western Michigan regional). We left in the morning. we stopped at a Steak and Shake for breakfast. We didn’t leave until 2 hours later. They had only one waitress and one cook on duty.
We arrived at Grand rapids and had about 1.5 hours to unpack and have our robot ready for the first practice session. We made it…barely.

MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm… YUMMY! I love Krispy Kremes! The best time to get 'em is when the hot now light is on in the window. WARNING! when you get 'em fresh and hot don’t eat too many, you’ll get sick if you do…

I take it you speak from personal experience.

KK is great. They have yeast rise and not cake like doughnuts. Great. That’s about all…

Good thing Dave likes KK. Its always a good way to placate him.

I’d try to go someplace that has a buffet, like Picadelly (spl??) cafe or something of that sort. Golden Corral (Okay, so my spelling is horrible) would be an option as well. Can’t wait to see you at Richmond!

The VCU Regional Competition will be held at the Siegel Center, 1200 West Broad Street, in Richmond. Krispy Kreme is 3.0 miles away at 4910 West Broad Street. It is open 24 hours, and includes a drive through. You can get from the Siegel center to there and back in 15 minutes. More important, you can get there from most of the hotels in seven minutes or less (yes, I have already checked this out  ).

We visited several times last year. There is nothing better than a dozen Krispy Kremes hot off the rack at 3:00am!

Hehehe,

7007 West Broad Street to 4910…only 7 minutes??

And Dave, I find it funny that our hotel is also a palendrome on West Broad street. VERY similar to yours. Doughnut run with 401?

I’d like to officially say that team 122 would be very glad to help in any krispy kreme dougnut run

Stephen, always willing to be gracious and proffesional
