We’d like to switch to the REV PDP panel when it becomes available again, but I noticed that the current 40A breakers for the CTRE PDP will not fit the REV. It does seem like the 30amp and below breakers will work, but can anyone confirm this? Also, are there any alternatives to the 40 amp REV breakers that are cheaper?
30A and below Snap Action breakers work in the PDH. All REV breakers work in the PDH.
There were no alternatives to the Snap Action and REV breakers that were legal in 2022.
There is no alternative to the REV 40amp breaker. As am I aware, REV had to develop a new 40A breaker so it could be the same size as the smaller 30A as nothing that small was available.
Regardless of fit… You are limited by rule to specifically listed breakers. Subject to change for the 2023 rules of course.
No there are others in the industry that now offer a 40a self resetting circuit breaker in the ATC/ATO footprint, though that is relatively new. The original ATO standard did stop at 30a and that was the norm for decades but with increasing packaging demands from auto mfgs they bumped that up to 40a.
Amazon.com That would fit and work in the PDH or PDP’s “30a” slots, but would not be legal under last year’s rules and I doubt will be legal under this year’s rules and despite the fact that these are from an unknown mfg with unknown specs and quality control they are not any cheaper than the REV product.
The other important thing to note is that the REV breaker response curves in all sizes are unique to their offerings, designed to be more forgiving in our type of use.
