reverse hurdle.

I am STILL unable to post in the Q&A forums, so I need to ask here…

If for some reason, we accidently knock off the other alliances ball off the overpass backwards ( ball goes in the opposite of normal) do they get points as if they hurdled it over the correct way? Our “arm” is slighty spring loaded (within rules) and as we drive under the over pass, it sometimes knocks the ball the opposite direction. If we were to do this I’m assuming this does not qualify as a real hurdle… One then must push the ball over the line to gain points…

This would not be a hurdle as the ball has not passed OVER the overpass. If you do it in hybrid mode however, they will receive the 8 points for the ball being knocked off the overpass, regardless of the fact that you were the one that knocked it down.

The other issue here is which overpass you are talking about.
If the ball is in YOUR homezone overpass… you can knock it off either way… it won’t count (except in hybrid)

If you pull it back on your opponent’s overpass it will not count unless you knock it across the line when you drop it… then it would be a 2 pointer… I believe… (please correct me if I am wrong)

If you knock it over your opponent’s overpass it will score as a hurdle during teleoperated…

Like others have already said…I don’t believe that counts as a hurdle. I actually see it as beneficial especially hybrid mode and the end game.

It really depends the direction of the ball and, of course, if you’re on your opponent’s side.

If you push the ball towards the line, it’s a hurdle. Might still be beneficial, trading 12 points for 8. If you push the ball the other way your opponent gets nothing.

No, if you knock the ball off backwards they will not get any points as the ball has not crossed any line. CROSSING is defined as moving in a counterclockwise direction, and an object has crossed once all parts of the object have moved across the plane, so is the ball goes over clockwise it has passed through the line, however it has not crossed it. It also depends on what the scenario is. If you are in teleop and your opponent didnt knock their ball off, you can knock the ball off however you want to because in order for a ball to score the first time it must cross a lane marker or opponents finish line first. If it is at the end of the match and your opponent has previously taken their ball down, then put it back up to try and get the 12 points, if you knock it off in a clockwise direction, then yes they do get the points for the hurdle. If you knock it off backwards (ball moving counterclockwise) then they do not get points because the ball hasnt CROSSED the line. If you dont trust the rules I say because I didnt quote the manual, feel free to look them up they are in there. I just didnt feel like going to the manual to quote them. Hope I helped.
