Hi!
We opted out of the KOP chassis, and we are currently looking at the RhinoTrack for our drivetrain. Are any teams integrating the RhinoTrack system with the Vex VersaChassis system? Are there any resources online that could help us with this?
We have not used it, however I just looked at it on andymark and noticed this:
AVAILABILITY NOTE (UPDATED 1/9/16):
Due to the demand on this module, we expect these to ship in 2-3 weeks from date of order placed currently. We are working with our suppliers to improve this date. We apologize for the delay.
Does anyone have thoughts for how bumpers would be mounted around the front of the track?
The BUMPER ZONE (R22) is between 4" and 12" off the ground, and the tip of the Rhino would almost certainly fall within that zone. It depends on what angle you have for the front of the Rhino.
Is there any valid design where NONE of the Rhino track is blocked by a bumper (like the examples in R19)?
We are currently looking at it but could not find any resources on it. we are looking to use it with 4 clamp on vex gearboxes and some sort of folding elevator for climbing the tower at the end of the game as well as pushing boulders in the low goal. this is what we are currently looking at be i also saw some stuff about pneumatic tires so those could be used as well i guess.

I actually made bumpers in the past that could be used in this application. The bumpers will be attached whatever way you can attach them to the two sides of the drive train, then you use L brackets to mount two boards together. I suggest using two L brackets, one on each side of the corner, to increase strength. The bumpers will be built as either one whole piece or two side bumpers in the shape of a U, in the case where you want an open gap. That way you will only be required to mount the bumpers on two sides without worrying about how to mount them to the front or back of the drive train. I would check FIRST rules about the amount of bumper required on each side though because my team actually ran into a problem two years ago that caused them to change the bumper rules.
Double check R26. There may be legal ways to do what you described, but there are many illegal ways too.
