River Rage 9 only 18 Days Away!

Hello everyone!

Once again, Manchester NH FIRST Teams would like to invite you to…

RIVER RAGE 9
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29
MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL, MANCHESTER NH

Thats right folks…River Rage is bigger, better, and crazier than ever before!

Check out these points…

-New larger, rennovated venue!
-Better Parking!
-Seperate area for pits!
-Food and Drinks available!
-More teams! (Already 22 signed up!)

Plus…introducing two special awards for the spirit of Haloween season!

  1. Best Robot Costume
  2. Best team Haloween Theme

Thats right, dress your robot up! Be creative…it’ll give us something to look at gawk at as the competition is going on! Oh by the way, did we mention we wanted the robots to wear the costumes during competition play? Think of something that will be fun and interesting, but please refrain from using anything that could cause a mess (i.e. real pumpkins, confetti, or silly string). Also dress your team up for haloween. The best haloween themed team will win the award!

Logistics…

-Competition will be held at Memorial High School in Manchester NH
-Robot loading will be at doors to the pits (high school cafeteria)
-Registration fee is 200 dollars
-We are using a renovated gym with a brand new floor so please be careful and we would greatly appreciate minding the sharp edges on your robot
-Please bring your radio’s for controlling the robot at the competition

Come! Join us! Have a ball!

The oldest offseason competition just got a face lift…you do not want to miss this!

1037 - HOLLIS-BROOKLINE, NH

Just wanted to make sure that you have us as 1073 not 1037

 I’m sure we do but I will verify tomorrow. I just pulled that list from a spreadsheet that was sent around for a planning meeting, someone probably just transposed the last two numbers. If we thought a team from Michigan was coming it would have generated some discussion. Glad you pointed that out though, we’ll have to do a sanity check on the teams/numbers before loading them into the scoring software.

unfortunatly due to some personal conflicts, i will not be attending…its a shame, i love river rage

Because it’s a day trip for me to NH vs to Rochester, I’ve decided to facilitate a NEMO workshop at River Rage instead of Rah Cha Cha Ruckus so I can have a day off from FIRST this weekend!

So if your team will be attending River Rage, please send your mentors who deal with the non-technical side of supporting your team - we’ll be discussing topics such as fundraising, public relations, mentor/student recruitment and retention, travel, meals, etc.

We’ll be meeting during the lunch break at a location to be determined. Hope to see you there!

As I suspected a couple of numbers were transposed, 1073 is signed up not 1037.

Here’s the latest update sent out by Ed Forcier.

RIVER RAGE UPDATE

It’s almost time for River Rage 9. Here’s an update of where we’re at.

Some of you haven’t sent your entry fee. Please bring it with you on Saturday. Also, if you haven’t received driving directions, please email me so I can send them to you.

Practice starts at 8AM or so. Opening ceremonies are at 9AM.

We have 23 teams signed up. We’d like 24 teams. (Evens out the match schedule) If you want to bring a second ‘bot, you can enter two teams for the price of one. Such a deal. First one to let me know is in. The second one to let me know will receive the same deal if a team doesn’t show and they play in their place.

Bring extension cords, power strips and safety glasses.

Remember, we are on a BRAND NEW gym floor. So, be nice to it. That means no food or drink in the gym.

Now, for the House Rules
• All FIRST rules for the 2005 game will be followed, with the following exceptions.
• Thirty (30) point penalties will only be assessed for safety concerns. These would normally only be appropriate for obstruction of a robot while in the process of loading at the human player station when the human player is off the pad.
• Robots that are within their end zone at the end of the match will be awarded points as follows: 1 point for a single robot, 3 points for two robots and 10 points for three robots.
• Teams cannot select their elimination round partners from the top eight seeded teams. You must select outside the eight.
• Referees will award the best robot costume and best team costume. After all, it is almost Halloween.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT. PLEASE CALL ME. 603-666-4741. The email is [email protected]. Thanks,
Ed Forcier

We had a good time in NH this weekend - thank you to all the volunteers who helped put on a great off-season event and to all the mentors who joined me in the NEMO workshop!
