So I have a question about this “young adult mentor” thing. Can you go into more detail about what qualifies one to be put in this category? I ask because I am 24 years old, which is above the typical “college age” though I admit depending on how long I have gone without shaving my visible age appears between 16-30.

Trust me I **completely ** understand why this category is in place, I just don’t want the scenario where i show up separate from my team to happen and there be an issue about having the “wrong” ticket

In the case that you look like a college student, we would advise you to get a college mentor ticket so that you are not mistaken for a student and to also bring an ID so that we can verify your age.

Congratulations to all the teams that qualified for championships! It is RoboProm’s 10th anniversary, and whether it’s your first time or 10th time at Championships, everybody will enjoy RoboProm! For tickets and more information, visit http://www.team399.org/roboprom2016/

For everyone buying/picking up RoboProm tickets here’s some important information!

Both ticket pick up/purchasing is at the courtyard with the FIRST banner (the map below shows where). We’ll be at the courtyard on Wednesday from 4PM-7:30PM (ending time may change depending on weather) and on Thursday from 8AM-1:15PM. Tickets can always be picked up at the event if necessary. A limited number of tickets will be sold starting on Wednesday until we sell out. Only cash or checks are accepted.

Tickets are $30 each.

A maximum of 4 tickets will be sold to each person.

Remember to bring your PayPal receipt and if you’re a young/college mentor your college ID/drivers license!

We will be selling these limited edition robot keychains, manufactured by Team 399, at the 2016 RoboProm! They will be sold 1 for $3 or 2 for $5, so make sure to pick yours up before they’re gone!

Does this 4 ticket maximum include the young/college mentor tickets or is it 4 student tickets + some number of young/college mentor tickets?

AND if you’re purchasing tickets on Wednesday, does the person purchasing the tickets need to bring IDs for all of the young/college mentors who will need tickets?

The 4 ticket maximum does not apply to young/college mentor tickets. Yes, an ID is needed for each young/college mentor ticket, or they can pick up their young mentor ticket at RoboProm at the front table.

I’m a teen protegy and have a college ID as I am attending college, can I get a discount

RoboProm 2016 was a huge success and from the feedback we received, it was great fun for all. We are working towards RoboProm 2017 at St. Louis AND Houston and already planning for 2018 in Detroit.

As FIRST competitions expand and change so will the 10 year RoboProm as we expand to Houston and Detroit. Our RoboProm Scholarship has been a great opportunity to give back to students and we plan to continue that effort at both locations.

We are looking at ways to give back to the teams in FIRST through RoboProm Grants. How this will be accomplished is still in planning and we hope to reveal details in late summer, early fall.

RoboProm was trademarked this past year, but this was not to prevent teams from having a regional RoboProm. We are working out details to allow teams to use the term for their local events (no charge, just guidelines if you want to call it RoboProm).

We thank the students that attend RoboProm each year and we look forward to 2017 in St. Louis and Houston and in 2018 in Detroit and Houston.

Good luck to everyone in their off-season recruiting, training and other events.
