For some reason our robot drivetrain one side is this clicking noise. It only occurs on the left side and happens both when driving forward and backwards. Putting the robot on blocks you can hear it prominently from the front versablocks and some more from the rear. Any ideas?
The gears might be slipping because:
motors are spinning at different RPMs (the motors might be receiving slightly different current)
something in the gearbox, such as a broken rivet
Though my expertise in drivetrain building is still developing. Also I’ve seen something similar about other motors like the Falcon 500 or Neo motors clicking recently NEO 550 was not working at first
Sounds like a busted roller bearing to me.
Upon further inspection one of the bearings didn’t seem to be pressed all the way in. I pressed it in and it isn’t really making the clicking anymore. Didn’t get to check much, will double check Monday though but I think the issue is resolved.
Check to make sure your frame rails and any bolts aren’t overtightened. By hand, you should feel the same amount of friction when spinning either side.
