I looked in the document and I didn’t see anything about going over the 1 ft 6 in extention while deploying your mechanism. Does that apply or not?

The extension limit is a limit. If you go beyond it, there’s a penalty. There’s no allowance for going past while you deploy your mechanism.
You CAN have the ability to go beyond the limit, but it needs to be software-limited to not happen in that case.
