I searched and could not get a clear answer. How far off the carpet does the bottom of the robot need to be? I know bumpers must be 2 1/2" from the floor but does the robot need to be 2 1/2" off the floor as well?

I don’t think there is a clear rule on this, you might want to ask the Q&A. I think as long as your robot is able to move and you aren’t ripping or bunching up carpet, then you are good to go. I have seen some robots with very low ground clearances.
well, we are going to make our robot 2" off the floor, but i dont really know the exact limitation
since in the arena this year there are no ramps to worry about (besides the ramp on ther robot of course). really i think 2 to 3 inches is good anymore than 4 inches is a little bit excessive and a waste of height.
Your robot needs to go all the way to the floor. Otherwise, it will fall down.
Actually, it depends. Are you asking “how much ground clearance should the robot have to be able to compete effectively?” or “how much ground clearance is required by the rules?” If it is the former, then I am sure you will get many different answers on this forum. Most of them will be based on the particulars of other teams designs, and are likely not to be applicable to your situation unless your robot design is strikingly similar. If it is the latter, then that is a question that is best asked on the FIRST Q&A for an official answer.

This year your alliance partners may want you to drive up their ramp. I’ve seen many low rider designs this year that will have ramping issues.
