In the past, it has been illegal to contact an opposing alliance robot during autonomous. I don’t see a rule prohibiting it this year, except beyond the mid-line. Maybe I missed it? It looks like it would be perfectly legal to place a robot in the spy box, and write an autonomous code to have that robot drive to the outer works, make a left, and drive down in front of the outer works, thereby disrupting any robot crossing and trying to line up a shot.
That could make autonomous scoring much more difficult.
All of Blue Alliance start on the red Alliance’s half of the field, even in the Spy Box (and vice versa). Thus, you would not be able to reach the opppsing alliance’s robots before they have crossed (also, you would encur a penalty if you attempted to head back to your alliance’s respective half).
Refer to G7. E.
E. fully contained by the opposite half of the FIELD from their TOWER, and
i. breaking the plane of the AUTO LINE, or
ii. inside the COURTYARD, in contact with both the CASTLE WALL and GUARDRAIL.
Only one (1) ROBOT per ALLIANCE, known as the “spy bot,” is allowed to start each
MATCH in this position.
