Robot loses comm with robot rio

Ok. We are in full panic mode now. Robot works fine in auto. As soon as we go into Teleop, the Rio disconnects. Everything stays powered. We tried switching Rios and laptops and no changes. Only way to reconnect is to power cycle the robot. Amy thoughts? We have a completion tomorrow.

Do you have driverstation logs? Can you post them here? Are you getting any errors at the beginning of teleop that may be crashing robot code? What language? Can you link to your code?

Link to code is your best shot here.

Does your robot work in the pits when you enable in Teleop?

An even better idea here is using Practice mode to test the transition from auto to teleop!

We had this issue in Tallahassee. Is your color sensor directly into your Roborio? If so we had to swap it out onto our NAVX.

“There is a known issue with the port being plugged directly into the Rio” is what I was told.

Yes this is a known issue, but I wouldn’t expect it to happen every time perfectly at the beginning of teleop like that. Logs / code should clarify it however.

Also: When you walk into your competition, as soon as you’ve checked in, ask for anybody with an orange hat. You may find them in with the yellow hats, or out by the field. You probably saw them at your first event… and now you need one. (They’ll jump you anyways the first time your robot does that on the field, but it’s better if you ask them first.)

Sounds like it could be your code crashing when it first tries to run teleop. Posting your logs here will help.

I definitely agree that you should try to find a CSA (orange hat) at your event to help you. That’s what they’re there for.
