Is there anyone who does not have a ramp or other lifting mechanism but still has a frame that could support another robot on top of it (presumably without being damaged)?
We are going to be using tank treads this year and have discussed a system that would allow us to lift up the front end of our chassis several inches. It would then be possible to climb up on robots who have a frame around 12 to 18 inches tall and a large flat space on top–like climbing one big step.
Obviously this would be useless if the only robots who can be mounted without being damaged have ramps anyway.
So we’re curious, those of you that have no ramps:
I don’t know how many will be compatible with that technique. Speaking solely of our design, we won’t have the horizontal space to hold an entire bot, and we don’t plan on having a sturdy, flat surface anyway. Interesting idea, but you should look at how often that function may be used before you become “married” to the idea. I’d hate to have a couple motors and a lot of weight used for a situation that may come up in one out of every 4 or 5 matches.
Good luck!
