Anyone have any thoughts on the idea at worlds it will be one robot cycling amp, one trench robot that stays by the speaker, and one robot that shoots pieces across the field the the speaker robot and the amp robot to drastically reduce cycle times and amp bonus will be almost constant. Any thoughts?
I played around with the idea of throwing pieces across the field in XRC Simulator, might be a viable strategy, atleast when playing solo it was about the same as going back and forth every time, but in a real 3v3 situation it seems it could work, not completely sure how that interacts with the rules, im pretty sure you can do it legally, but not sure if they would count it as a full court shot, hopefully this will be addressed in the Q&A
I’m a little confused about the drive under stage/chain question. If you can go under the chain, you’re already short enough to go under the stage.
Unless you plan on hitting the chain and allowing it to move over your robot? Which seems sketchy!
FIRST did mention that under the stage is likely slightly shorter due to the bolt heads but I imagine most teams if they are going to spend the time to be able to go under the chain then they can spend a tiny bit more time to go under the stage
Has anyone tried picking up a piece with wheels on the side instead of above for an intake? If so could you please link a video for all to see how it interacts with the note!
I believe it would a possibility and something that could be worth testing if you had a way to do so. It also will likely depend on who your alliance partners are and how quick your normal cycle times are in comparison to if your teamate can keep up with the pieces that you are feeding to them. Defense would also likely begin to defend this option once they realized what was being done.
I think that would be a shrewd strategy if experiments show ground pickup can be super fast. Notes on ground will be vulnerable to defense pushbots, though.
Or does anyone think this might end up being a passing game? In other words, is designing bots to catch precisely-thrown Notes a plausible goal?
