Phinix | 2023
After months of preparation and six weeks of grueling work from everyone involved, we proudly revealed our newest robot, Phinix, last Thursday at Evoluon (event location in Eindhoven).
Named after the mythical bird symbolizing hope, rebirth, and transformation, Phinix embodies our team’s aspirations for the '22-'23 season.
Despite falling short of our goals last season, we remained motivated and continued to push ourselves to make this season the best in Robotics Team Pi’s history.
We’re grateful to everyone in the Team Pi community who contributed to the development of Phinix, and we’re proud of the hard work and dedication that has gone into this season.
Competition season
This week Phinix will be shipped to Phoenix, Arizona, where we’ll compete in the Arizona east and west regionals. We’re excited to showcase our robot’s capabilities and see how it stacks up against other teams.
Robot Reveal
All the members of Robotics Team Pi dreamed of having a big robot reveal the past seasons. Knowing that COVID restrictions would finally allow it this season we went all out.
We revealed our robot in the Evoluon, a event location that has been a center of innovation here in the Netherlands.
It was amazing to reveal our newest robot in front of 300+ sponsors, friends and family. And we even reached the news!
The Robot
The team will travel Phoenix on March 10. Meaning that we won’t have acces to our competition robot for the coming 2 weeks. But we will continue to test on our test bot.
This is a video from the testing after the reveal. As seen in the video we still have to iron out some issues.
Intake to spindexer hand off is something that we are having issues with, but we got a solution for it that we are hoping to test this week. The spindexer will also likely be re-designed with a different pattern on the rotating plate and we are looking into an active gripper.
We will continue to improve the robot but the teams efficiency is a bit lower now that the competition bot and most of our tools are already being shipped.
This is the 6968 Robotics Team Pi’s first post on Chief Delphi. We would love to hear your thoughts. And hope to share more of our team on this amazing platform in the future!
