MOE Team 365 – the Miracle Workerz - has an opportunity for teams needing to raise funds for their team!
We have again organized the 5K Robot Run/Walk. This will be our 4th year!
Once again it will be held April 4, 2009 at the beautiful Riverfront on the banks of the Christina River in Wilmington, Delaware (Riverfront Wilmington). This event has been organized to afford your team members the opportunity to participate in a fun, physically challenging but social event where the reward for completion could also be financially rewarding and beneficial to your team.
Attached is the 5K Robot Run/Walk Event Registration form with a Pledge form that can be used by your team members to solicit donations and sponsorship for participation in this event. We have provided a copy of the pledge form that can be personalized identifying your specific team number and name. Teams can get flat rate pledges, pledges per mile, donations for participation; whatever form of sponsorship works best for you. Take note that this is a 5K (3.1 mile) Run or Walk, so the students or team members have a choice regarding which challenge suits them and their abilities the best. Remember, this is not just a physical event, but social as well, so walking and talking are encouraged as much as the more difficult running competition.
Not only will this event be fun, but the Run/Walk is also professionally managed by Marathon Sports and sanctioned by the Delaware Sports Club. It will be run on an established USATF certified course. This means that it really counts for those more serious runners and walkers. Although our focus is on robotic team affiliations, participation is also very much open to the general public. There will be t-shirts for all participants, awards for overall winners and top three finishers in specific age groups (see registration application), robotics displays and demonstrations, and post event refreshments.
There are many ways to enter. Use the attached form and instructions and mail with the event fee directly to First State Robotics, or use the options of on-line, mail-in or personal entry registration available on www.races2run.com. Just go to April 2009 and select April 4th for details on the 4th Robot Run. Additional event details, times, directions and a course map are also provided on this site.
So please come out, get exercise, have fun and raise funds for your team! It promises to be a great day.
If you have any questions or want additional details regarding this event send me a note or contact the names in the attached letter.
