How fast can a robot weighing 70 pounds, running on 1 atwood motors and 2 wheel drive, central stering system?

Has anybody done with locomotion of the robot ?

While that seems like an easy question it’s fairly complicated. First of all, is there any gear reduction in the drive train? Second, how much traction does the robot have? What size wheels are being used? How much inertia is felt by the motor (this will cause the motor to reduce speed)? So it’s not a simple question. You can get a fairly accurate number by dividing the no load speed of the motor by two, and then factoring in the gear reduction and then multiplying by the circumference of the wheels. That will be a fairly accurate top speed if a bit on the high side.

to much math for me. suffice to say its slower than using 2 atwoods on 2 drive wheels with a dual caster front… and more complex to engineer.

A 130 lb robot might do 3 m/s, but not push a goal, but a goal pusher might be unwise to try to go that fast, because the torque requirements are greater.

If you calculate it will go zoom-cubed, be prepared to change gears if the circuit breakers go click-squared.:slight_smile:
