Today I was watching the webcasts and I noticed robots starting in many diferent locations in the alley next to the ramp. I even saw some that started right up against the 14’’ divider bar. I had no idea this was leagal. Could someone please clarify whether this is leagal or do the judges just not care?

It’s legal.
You may place your robot anywhere on the grey carpet in your designated section.
There was a round where a team had to push ther bot into the zone because they had it so close to the edge.
Having the bot be placed anywhere adds a little more strategy in the game.
