Is it a hard cap at 32, or is the limit flexible? There seems to be a lot of demand this year.

Demand has picked up quite a bit this year, we’re happy people want to come :). Also typically we have had a couple of drops before all teams get their registration payment in, but that’s not the case this year.

We’ve been evaluating expansion over the last few days and what we can do while maintaining an exceptional team experience. We’ve determined that we are expanding the team list to 35 teams. This will be a hard cap. Updated team list is at the bottom of this post.

We could use some additional volunteer support from folks who are interested – we feed volunteers very well (donated lunch from Monical’s Pizza this year) and each volunteer gets a T-shirt. We are especially looking for support to increase our ranks in field reset, official scorer, concessions, and queuing. Link to volunteer

Sounds like it’s gonna be great!

Before we mentioned 35 would be the hard cap – however, one team/robot on the waitlist volunteered to have a reduced-size pit. With our desire to accommodate as many teams as possible who want to play, and that 36 teams is a better tournament number than 35 (eliminates surrogate qualifications, does not lengthen schedule), we have expanded to 36.

This is one heck of a roster

It’s even crazier when you hear about the (really good) capabilities of these robots with offseason numbers. It’s looking to be a pretty deep event.

I assume we will be playing with champs rules (supercharging nodes)?

Yes, standard rules (including supercharging) except we’re downgrading to the regional level links requirement for the sustainability bonus (5 without coop / 4 with coop). Also 32 teams in playoffs (champs drafting rules).

Does this also include the update to what counts as scored in the floor nodes regarding being partially over the tape line?

You’re talking about this line right to verify?

We’ll interpret as per the latest Q&A on the topic:

Speaking of floor scoring, any thoughts on doing the double wide tape like chezy?

This has been debated, but I do sort of feel that if we were having a change that impacts the field we probably should have released it a month or two ago at least. As a team I don’t like last minute changes.

However, I may put a poll out to attending teams to see how they feel about it. TBD.
