ROBOTICON Tampa Bay 2019

We’re excited to confirm our dates for ROBOTICON 2019 at the University of South Florida Yuengling Center are set for October 12 & 13 ! This year, FIRST partners with Disney/Star Wars to host a Star Wars themed 2019-20 FIRST youth robotics season, FIRST RISE: Force for Change , announced at the FIRST Championship in Houston last week, where area teams, including FCDIsponsored FIRST Tech Challenge team #2845, Team Duct Tape, competed.

FIRST Robotics Competition teams will play this season’s Destination:Deep Space game one more time, in an off-season competition, while other FIRST programs take an early season stab at their new season games. FCDI is excited to once again be partnering with the University of South Florida College of Engineering and the USF office of Research and Innovation to produce ROBOTICON this year.

New at this year’s event: an Industry Showcase , providing a more focused opportunity for area businesses, engineering and manufacturing companies, science and technology firms and academic institutions to create robust interactive exhibits to show the thousands of youth attending ROBOTICON some of the real world opportunities available to them with respect to careers and academic pathways. To to be part of our Industry Showcase or an event sponsor, check out our corporate sponsorship package here.

Last year over 4000 people participated in ROBOTICON over the course of the weekend. This year we’re aiming for at least 5000! Help us reach that number by spreading the word and letting everyone know about one of the Smartest Show on Earth taking place right here in Tampa! In the week prior to ROBOTICON, we’ll also be holding some related events and programs at the FCDI Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics Center (AMRoC) Fab Lab , where the FIRST Robotics Competition field resides year round now.

Look for volunteer and team registration, travel and lodging information soon, and save the date to join us and be a Force for Change!

There will also be dancing.

ROBOTICON 2019 will be taking place during my week of Florida college tours, catch me there! This will be my first introduction to Florida teams and competion.

Edit because I thought I was done but i’m not:
Do we have an idea of the registration will begin? Is it set to the beginning of the school year (August) or should we expect to see it sooner so schools can debate. Thanks!

Do any teams coming to Roboticon use WCP gearboxes? I’m working with a team on a limited budget, and it looks like we don’t have any spare parts. Nothing broken and not any problems, but I just hate to come to an event without some spares for the drive train. We have single speed 3 CIM GB’s. Thanks.

Hi Gary - I’m not sure , but we can certainly put out a call to see who might have spares at the event for you.
