Just found this article about money available for robotics teams in Oklahoma…

The State Department of Education (SDE), in partnership with FIRST Robotics, has approved a $100,000 budget item to support public school student participation in the FIRST Robotics Program. The SDE will provide grants up to $5,000 per school to facilitate recent start-up and existing team opportunities. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Sept. 24, 2012. Grant awards will be announced in November and available to schools in December.

Pack it up team, we’re moving to Oklahoma!

This isn’t the first time this has happened for us OK-teams. The state government has been incredibly helpful with the spread of public school robotics programs. This same state grant is the main reason why Oklahoma has as many teams as we do, AND why we have a regional for that matter. Most of which can be attributed to team 476 out of Ponca city. It’s because of their team that our state grew from like 4 frc teams to 37 in 2008.

However, this isn’t much help for non-public school teams like mine :frowning:
